Have you ever noticed how it seems like every Christmas movie takes place in NYC. Or at least most of them do. Or maybe it’s just because I watch a lot of Hallmark movies. Regardless, Christmas in New York has always seemed so magical to me, and has been high up on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Well, December 2017, my dreams were realized when Christina, Jasmine and I met in NYC for 4 memorable days.
Christina and Jasmine drove up from Charlotte, and I took a red eye from Seattle to Newark. Once the girls made it to New Jersey, we crossed state borders, found our hotel, stashed our bags and took off to explore the city. We stayed at Homewood Suites in Midtown Manhattan/ Times Square South, and were so pleased with our stay! There was a great breakfast served every day, the hotel staff were so kind, our room was fantastic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location! We were about a 10-15 minute walk from Times Square. It was perfect!
We spent the afternoon exploring Times Square, including the brilliantly clever Charmin pop up bathrooms in the center of Times Square. Seriously, brilliant. Every bathroom was themed, it was clean, it was warm. I honestly think this should become a permanent fixture in Times Square.
We hadn’t really anticipated the large crowds in the city (though we should have). We were in NYC the last weekend before Christmas, so Times Square was crowded on this particular Saturday. Every store was elbow to elbow with people. We hit up the store highlights (we had just been in NYC the previous summer), picked up a pizza and called it an early night.
We headed back to our hotel, pizza in hand and cozied up to watch Hallmark Christmas movies and rest up for our busy Sunday ahead! Day 1 in this magical land of Christmas on every corner was a success! Seriously, Christmas and the Holidays were on every corner. Christmas trees, lights, decorations were everywhere. What a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
