Banner Elk, NC: Summer 2013

If you’ve been following along and reading about our adventures, you may wonder how these trips started, or why we go on them.  Well, let me tell you.  We became friends while attending college together in Lookout Mountain, GA.  Laura and I actually roomed together our senior year, and Amy and Christina roomed together senior year.  We were all education majors, and just became great friends.  Well, we realized that good friendships are worth investing in, and we also knew that we wanted to stay friends, and still see one another.  So, we decided to vacation together 1 year post college.  Well, that first vacation led into many other trips and vacations together, with hopefully many more to come!

I could probably post several posts from this first Banner Elk trip, but I’ll try and compress it all into one.  So be prepared, this may be long, and there will be lots of photos.

We found a great Groupon for an awesome timeshare place in NC, and we were excited to spend a few days there.  It was a really great location, and a super fun trip.

We packed up the car and we were off and ready to go!

We enjoyed just being together and hanging out.  When you are with people 24/7 and then haven’t seen each other for a year… there is lots to catch up on!

We participated in lots of fun outdoor activities including mini golf, boating, hiking, basketball, and tennis.

I think my favorite thing we did was attempt to BBQ our dinner.  Unfortunately, when you are in the South, and it’s July… you get random thunderstorms.  Well, that’s what happened to us as we were getting ready to grill our dinner.  Not only that, but we had a terrible time trying to get the grill lit.  So we opted for plan B instead… PIZZA!

We had a girls night out at a local Chili’s for drinks and dessert (also an excuse to dress up!).

These next pictures are my absolute favorite things we did on this trip

  • Ride on the Carousel at the Outlet Mall

  • Cram 4 people into the Jacuzzi tub so we didn’t have to go to the hot tub.

I swear, these ladies are just the best and this trip was so wonderful.  Not only was this a great vacation, but it started the trend of yearly summer vacations together!

So grateful for these ladies and our adventures, and so happy to have them in my life.  We are coming up on a whole decade of knowing each other, and I can hardly believe it.  It’s been a great 10 years, and I can’t wait for the next 10!
