Nassau, Bahamas

Another destination on our Carnival Cruise was the beautiful island of Nassau.

While there were many great shore excursions we could have done, we opted to explore Nassau on our own.  We mostly did shopping and wandered around the main part of town.  Looking back, I wish we had gone and checked out Atlantis, but I guess that means I have to go back someday!

Some highlights from our time in Nassau were finding a Tortuga Rum Cake shop, and bringing home several rum cakes to share with our families.  Seriously, both times I’ve cruised in the Caribbean and Bahamas, several rum cakes have followed me home.  They are delicious.  I think my favorite flavors are the original and coconut.  Definitely recommend trying these out if you can find one.  Even if you don’t buy any… most of their shops have samples!

We also tried the Bahamas exclusive Goombay Punch.  Definitely sweet, and not that tasty… but it was a fun beverage to try.  And really, look at the label.  It’s pretty great.  Also, at this point those sunburns were really going strong.  That’s what a lot of fun in the sun will do for a girl who doesn’t get much sun during the year.

We had a ton of fun exploring Nassau, and enjoyed the sites from the ship as we raised anchor and sailed away.
