A trip to PEI wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Anne of Green Gables Museum. We headed here our first day, eager to learn all we could about L.M. Montgomery, and this beautiful Island that we were falling in love with already.
If you’ve got a keen eye, you probably noticed the arrow pointing to Matthew’s Carriage Ride. Yes, we took a ride on Matthew’s carriage around the Lake of Shining Waters, but I’ll save that for another post. Heads up: it was amazing.
Back to the museum… the museum is housed in Silver Bush (the name L.M. Montgomery gave the house) and is still owned by relatives of L.M. herself. There is all sorts of rich history and amazing items inside. Many things that inspired the Anne novels are located in this house. We were able to see the mirror that Anne’s imaginary friend Katie lived in, the organ that was played in L.M. Montgomery’s wedding and many other treasures.
We also wandered the trails by Silver Bush.
I would highly recommend the museum to any Anne fan. I loved learning about the history behind the author of the Anne of Green Gables series. It gave me a much greater appreciation for the books.
