Though completely unintentional, our stay in Paris overlapped with Bastille Day. Naturally, once we found this out, we were excited to be in Paris and join in any festivities that might be happening. The thing that most excited us was fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. We researched and scoped out the best (and safest) place … Continue reading Bastille Day
Paris! The City of Light (and love!). I will admit, I had very low expectations for Paris. My parents went to Paris in the late 1980s, and were disappointed in their stay, commenting that it was very dirty, smelly, and crowded. More recently I have had friends visit, who also were disappointed with Paris, so … Continue reading Bonjour, Paris!
We left Rome heading for our final destination: Paris, France. We took a Cab from Arches BnB and headed toward the Rome Fiumicino Airport. We made it through security quickly and were soon on our flight to Paris. Our 2 hour 15 minute flight was uneventful. We arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport, and headed … Continue reading Air Italia
Summer nights in Rome are pure magic. Three of my most treasured memories of this adventure happened at night. Venice, Rome and Paris in the evening were some of the most magical places and things I experienced. We started our evening with a delicious meal in the non touristy part of Rome. We realized this … Continue reading On an Evening in Roma
You know when you stumble on that hidden gem and it ends up being one of your new favorite places? That's what happened when we found Castel Sant' Angelo. Christina and I were looking for somewhere to go on a free afternoon, and Christina researched Castel Sant' Angelo. It is located near The Vatican and … Continue reading Castel Sant’Angelo
Ranked with The Colosseum and The Roman Forum on the "must see" when in Rome list would be St. Peter's Basilica and The Vatican. Confession, I apparently didn't do my research on St. Peter's Basilica and the fact that it was in this square that the Pope appears and masses of people flock to catch a glimpse … Continue reading St. Peter’s Basilica and The Vatican
No trip to Rome is complete without visiting the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. I won't lie, I was slightly disappointed in the size of the Colosseum... I was anticipating it to be much larger, however, I was not prepared to hop off the Metro at the Colosseo stop, walk out of the station and … Continue reading Ancient Rome
We enjoyed seeing the "Share a coke with..." all throughout Europe, but were most successful with our findings in Rome. You can buy just about anything with the Pope's face on it when you are in Rome. These were our favorite... and they were an homage to The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Definitely a win-win situation.
After our first fiasco with lodging was sorted out, Rome quickly became my favorite city of our trip. Sadly, several large tourist destinations were covered in scaffolding for repairs/ renovation. We were not able to see the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain in all their glory. I suppose that means that I will have to … Continue reading Roamin’ Through Rome
If you find yourself in Rome you MUST make your way to Millennium Gelato and if it's available, get the Kiwi Gelato. Hands down, the best gelato I ate in Italy. I think we ate here 3, maybe 4 times. It's that good. One night we even splurged and got a kilo of gelato... definitely one of the … Continue reading Gelato & Pizza
