“Why does he not try Bath? It would do him the world of good!”

We found ourselves on a train ride out of London to explore the beautiful English countryside, and more particularly the beautiful city of Bath.  The train ride from Paddington Station to Bath Spa is about 1.5 hours– a short, lovely jaunt outside the hustle bustle of London.

The main draw of Bath was going to The Jane Austen Centre (https://www.janeausten.co.uk/).  If you like Jane Austen even an ounce, this is a must visit.  You are greeted at the door by a fantastic Mr. Bennet (Pride and Prejudice) impersonator.  He also does a fantastic Scooby Doo voice… but that’s another story.

Inside the Jane Austen Centre, you learn all about the life of Ms. Austen, and how her works came about.  You can also dress in Regency Period clothes and have a photo session!  You’re never too old to have a little fun dressing up, right?

You can also enjoy a spot of tea inside the tea room, the highlight of which is a lovely portrait of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice regally looking over the entire tea room.

After our Jane Austen excursions, we were able to walk around the city and see this beautiful, quaint place.  Bath has gorgeous parks, as well as an amazing cathedral.  Our day quickly passed by, so we did not have time to check out the baths, or go inside the cathedral… guess that means another trip to Bath is in order!
